Have an 05 x5 at my disposal. Will be taking the nav computer. how involved is this? straight forward?

i gotta got to LI to do this removal. Is it easy?

i have to remove the mk4 from the x5 and then remove my older mk from my e38...im assuming im going to need brackets too?

It is very easy - check out this link on how to remove the Nav from an e38:

Removing the Nav from the X5 should be very similar. To just swap a MKIV from the X5 to your e38, no new or special brackets are needed.

PS - why do you have all those cars listed in your "Cars" category, but not your 7? It would help to know at least the year of your 7 to know what Nav unit you're replacing. If it's a MKI, I've heard there is an adapter you'll need. If it's a MKII, you'll need to pull the antenna from your Trimble unit & attach it in the back of the MKIV you're putting in your 7.

Just some pieces of metal (maybe a dry cleaners) coat hanger, and make 4 pieces, slide them in the 4 holes and pull out.

The MK2 will not work in the X5 so if your swapping and the owner has to sell then no go
