Has anyone ever converted a factory BMW seat into an office chair? I'm not talking about the powered computer chair
Sounds heavy and expensive, but I would definitely rock one in the office. I actually would like a vader.
You would need a very heavy base to bolt a car chair on to.

Well... it seems most of your weight would be in the frame and motors... which you wouldn't need for an office chair. I have a friend that worked at a place that built leather car seats... and he said they had various ones made into office chairs.
Would be pretty cool...

An E#) sport seat would do fine with me!
No motors in that bitch! :)

If I ever took my seats out for racing seats, and just had two stock E46 seats lying around. Sure, I'd make them into an office chair. It would take a little bit of work, but less money than buying a new chair. The only disadvantage I could see would be the lack of an arm rest, but I'm sure a little ingenuity could fix that too. And since I don't have motorized controls, the E46 seats would work well... damnit, now I need Recaros so I can have a sweet E46 office chair.
I'd rather use the seat out of a 7. Something ubber comfortable with lumbar support. Now THAT is the ultimate office chair. May be heavy and unsupportive in a car, but quite nice while at a desk, I would imagine. But I have a bad back, which is the only reason I cringe at the idea of sitting on a vader while at the computer all day.

doesn't sparco or recaro already have something like this?
also, how the hell do you even get into the seat on that thing

Recaro and others sell complete, ready-made office chairs. But we're talking about taking our favorite BMW seats and making them into office chairs.
I've got a few old office chairs, more of a safety risk than anything sitting around the office, if anyone has some old seats. I could weld up a bracket to bolt the seat onto the post, and we have a test chair.
Now who has a chair?!?!
Hell, I'd be willing to make a comfortable living room chair w/o castors.
