Hi guys, just some days ago I started having a nice christmas tree in my BMW E38 728 (2000). Sometimes the speedo stops working together with economy gauge etc... Fuel gauge is then also acting strange. Been to the dealer but they cannot read a fault in the ABS computer. They fear that the computer is damaged. However I read in a thread (suggested by Edwin) that it can also be the relay of the DME. I have seen the pictures where there are two blue relays that need to be swapped. However in my 728 there are no 3 relays (of which 2 are blue and 1 is green).
I have made a picture of my E-box layout, however since I am quite new, I have no idea how to ad a picture to this post!
Could anybody (Edwin) help me and point out which relay I should change in a 728?
Many thanks for your help!

Doubt it's the relay. Typically, the ABS/DSC/Brake/speedo issue is the ABS module failing to communicate with the IKE and other modules in the car. Is your car a 5spd? If it's an auto, I'd bet there is a transfailsafe in your near future if you haven't already gotten it.
The ABS module is located be the passenger front shock tower. It's attached to the CNC aluminum block with the brak lines coming out of it. The module itself is black and attached to the forward side of the aluminum black with 6 small torx bolts and has a considerable sized plug. To remove the plug from the module, slide the outer section of the plug towards the engine. There is a small notch in it to fit a flat blade screwdriver to start the motion. It usually has to slide out every bit of 2cm, and will touch the AC pressure port before you can remove the plug.
Lucky for you, you have probably one of the smartest e38 gurus in your back yard. He'll get you straightened out in no time.

Hmm, that sounds bad, thanks for the update though, the car will be with a electronics specialist this Monday. Just out of curriousity what is a transfailsafe and how will it manifest itself?
Thanks again for the help!

The issues you talk about point to the rear ABS sensors, get codes

Thanks for the suggestions, will go to a ECU specialist in the neighbourhood of Lijnden in the Netherlands. They are able to check the ABS sensor signals before the go into the ABS compu. The BMW specialist I went through could not get a read-out from the ABS compu. Carsoft indicated that the module was not responding :(
Will keep you informed!
