I have a 1995 S50 (M3) motor in my 1991 318is.
Today for some reason it started running 10x smoother then it used to but at the same time i have like no power and it wont go over like 5k. My intake is louder than my exhaust and idk what to do. Someone said my vanos is dead. how can i check and what should i do.

Sounds like you need a vanos re-vamp to me.
Luckily it's not a hard thing to do yourself and is fairly cheap.

Another option is a Dr.Vanos kit, or upgrade. Either way you will need the vanos tools. Dr.Vanos is a more expensive option, but can be done.
