Are the fronts +23 too? Highly doubtful you'll have to do anything with the fronts with an 8" wheel...unless it has an EXTREMELY low offset (which I doubt based on the rears).

I'd wager those are E39 based Style 32's based on the size and offset. Not only will you have poke in front and back but the bore will likely be 74.1 rather than 72. You would need hubcentric spacers so you don't get a vibration. My advice would be if you want Style 32's, get four rears (8.5"x17") from a Z3 which will have a 41 offset and correct bore.

I disagree with that. If it's an 8" wheel, he's going to need next to a zero offset to poke in the front. I have an 8" front with +27 with a 12mm spacer (effectively a +15) and I still have a slight bit of room.
