E38 parts value + interchangeability

Since I got my E38, I've been looking for a local cheap parts car for a few random parts and also for something to have fun pulling apart and make a few bucks doing it.

Found one two hours away, a 2001 740iL, in pretty good shape (minus the HGs being blown). Very nice black interior, good condition silver exterior. About 150K miles.

Is there still a used parts market for these vehicles? Think I could make $800 back on one? Bumper trim and the headlights are gone.

Also, is there a bit of interior shared with the E39's?

Yes:

1. 16-way comfort Seats are a big upgrade for many e39 owners where the 10-way Basic Seats are more common...and the (single stage air bag).
2. 3-spoke steering wheel was offered as an option on the e39 in the States for the 97-3/99 model years...and wasn't offered on the e38 until 10/99 on the e38.

e38 & e39 front seats up to 8/99 are the same
e38 & e39 front seats from 9/99-up are the same

e38 & e39 steering wheels are the same up to 5/96 build date
e38 & e39 steering wheels are the same 6/96- 2/99 build date (single stage airbags)
e38 & e39 steering wheels are the same from 3/99-up (dual stage airbags)

You can easily make 800. If u buy that car I would buy rocker panel covers from u in a heartbeat if they are silver; u just made 150-200$ back

I will certainly keep that in mind! I am looking for towing arrangements currently.
