Soooo. I finally installed my system over the weekend. Sounds great. The only issue is, when certain bass lines hit, it pops my trunk open. Just like if I were to press the trunk release button on the FOB or in the car. Anybody have an idea what I could do to keep the soft close release from opening the trunk?

wow - what kind of system are you running?

I have twin 12" Kenwood Excelon subs in a box powered by a 1500 watt amp .. they really pound but I'm thankful they dont "pop" the trunk!... I'd say check the soft lock system.. does it completely engage when you shut it? like bzzzzz and then go all the way down?!

btw what system are you running?..please post some pics if you can, I'll do the same later.

I have 2 svc quantum 12's powered by a mono block 1500 watt kicker amp in a super bass box. I'll post pics soon. Oh and the amp is at 1/3 gain and 3/4 bass boost db's...

I have SQL in my dodge daytona, and SPL in my 7. The e38 is my weekend cruiser.

SQL is a system setup for sound quality, SPL is setup for loudness/sound pressure (i.e. bass that can blow windows out) hehe. Basically, in a SQL system you won't have bass that pops trunks.

The geek in me is showing.. when I first saw that post I too was confused thinking SQL as in structured query language for databases lol. Took a sec to remember otherwise :)

@ Strahan - having a degree in computer sciences my first instinct went to SQL as in structured query language......but then i was like bimmer sound system... programming..jus doesnt add up .. thought id ask.. thanks for the clarification! ..

= awesome set up! ... I dont mean to sound ignorant here but Im wondering whether an SQL system can be tuned? - like settings changed to make it SPL and vice versa...

my gain is at minimum.... let me post a pic..amp is some US make not sure....came with the car... recently swapped out the old 10" MA audio sub with 2 12" Kenwoods.. very satisfied after the swap...
