I know on real it states emission control - air pump, but what function do the vavles serve? Would the 02 sensors be a part of this system?
Changed the water pump and the hoses off these valves were gummy and ruined. Wondering if I should change the valves?
Thanks!

Common for the hoses to crap out. Just replace the hoses. Typical BMW rubber that can't take any oil getting on them.

Thanks. Would it cause vacuum leak and poor idling?
No, it is on the exhaust system rather than the inlet system.....

It will not effect the engine at all if the hoses are brittle, it will sound bad though

egr= exhaust gas recirculation
cheap fix. Buy hose from auto supplier and cut to fit replace clamps.

Yup, I got that too :)
Start looking for that vacuum leak at the rubber boots just downstream of the MAF sensors. It could be the rubber boots, the throttle body gaskets, any of the vacuum lines coming off the TBs.

The hard lines coming out of the rubber boots have a whole system of hoses and plastic valves that get very brittle and break. That system also runs hard lines to the fuel injectors, which are also very brittle.
