Thats what laptops are for.....

Seriously though I prefer the electronic because its searchable... shoulda seen me troubleshooting wiring issues, I had diagrams up on the garage computer screen, the etm on the laptop and the bently all on the go at the same time..

Why do I feel so...antiquated all of a sudden? :(

You whippersnappers and your...PDF thingies.

:D

What happens when you're up to your elbows in grease and need to scroll around the screen? I wouldn't take my laptop near my car when it's in the process of getting worked on.

That's what old dedicated garage computers are for.......

You can get a cheap mouse for that purpose... avoids ruining a trackpad.

Touché. My father-in-law has a dedicated work computer in his shop. Ancient, with a tiny monitor, but it does the job.

Wash your hands?

So...work on the car a little bit, get greasy, wash hands, check PDF, work on the car some more, wash hands, check PDF, work on the car some more, wash hands, check PDF... :rolleyes Sounds kinda tedious if you ask me.

... maybe we should invent work gloves ...

Seriously though for most mechanical jobs you shouldn't need to keep going back to the manual.

I only just started wearing them, after years of not taking care of my hands, the chemicals dry out and break the skin way too fast. By the time I band aid finger tips I might as well have worn gloves in the first place. The thin blue latex ones were crap, I have some black ones now, bought a box of 200 for about 10 bucks, they last for quite a while. The other plus is when you show up in the office your finger nails aren't caked up with black crap.

Sorry Ben - beat ya to it. The was totally cool too. I told him what cars I had and he said he was jealous of me that they were awesome cars. He was a true enthusiast as well.... even though he showed up in an X3 :D

BTW... you need to call me matey!
