Supercharged 1996 BMW M3 Luxury Coupe. For Sale
93,000 miles on the chassis
low mileage new motor

Active Auto Stage C-38 Stage II supercharged car. Garage kept, second owner. Acquired in 2002. Have several inches thick of records of service and improvements. Very clean paint and exceptionally well preserved chassis. I’ve finished the motor, exterior and stereo makeover and have upgraded the interior with a pair of Sparco Torino 2’s and the door panels have been built up to house a 5 ¼ and covered in leather. Also have approximately 25 yards of black and blue genuine Alcantara, where the plan was to cover much of the interior of the car but that is incomplete.

The car has been tuned and serviced by Active Auto in Miami, FL where it made – 444 crank HP. At that time the car had a VAC Motorsports S52 Stage II cylinder head, Schrick cams and the C-38 Stage II kit.

As of a few weeks ago the car just came back from service in UUC in Atlanta, GA – where it just received a new low mileage motor. Everything was put back together using factory components + BMW Group N Cams. The last setup was too aggressive, unreliable, and undependable. I’ve been driving this now for a few weeks, including the trip back from Atlanta, and it’s awesome. It idles as it did stock, the exhaust sound is amazing, the chassis is crisp, the grip level is high and the seats are super comfortable and grippy. I averaged 21 on the interstate.

I don’t want to sell it, I’m forced to. All the bs (I thought) I had seen about, “I’ve got kids” or “child on the way” turns out to have meaning when you’re the one saying it. It is a wedge in my family . I’ve tried to sell it before but couldn’t then, have to now. Hope you like it as much as I do:

Door: 5 ¼ Boston Acoustic SX Series 5 ¼”. The doors panels have been removed from the car, and speaker pods were built up using fiberglass and bondo. After which they were covered in real black leather cow hides. There’s also an orangish leather insert where the arm rest was. When I ordered these online I thought they were a camel color. I surprised when I got them back from the upholsterer. The arm insert will have to be redone unless you just like the hideous color. For that I have genuine blue alcantara for the new owner. There is ~18 yards of dark blue and ~9 yards of black alcantar (both genuine alcantara brand ordered from an online upholstery shop).

Rear: JL Audio 8” Stealth boxes fitted into the rear deck

Trunk: The trunk has a false floor that tailors all the contours of the trunk. The batter cover is still retained and the two together make the whole trunk look gorgeous. The ZXI 6410 amp is flushed into the floor and has a plexi cover. There’s a box for a 12” woofer that rides between the two stealth boxes. Sandwiched between the sub box and folding seats is an amp rack that follows the angle of the seats. It houses the mid-bass and sub amp. Out of sight are the speaker wires, crossovers, power and ground distribution blocks.

Here are a few instrument shots - no close up of the boost / AEM Air Fuel - that's to come

I had the door panels off and had them finished but they're not the right color and need to be done- you'll see below in a moment. I was going to purchase a set of Cobra Misano's, the camel color leather ones - which is why my parking break/center console/shift boot all have the orangish stitching. When I took the car down to Active in Miami I ended up getting these + I had picked up the calipers so I said I'll make the interior blue. More to come..

So I started redoing the interior. First the doors: I ordered two whole cows in black + what I thought was going to be a camel colored hide, if I recall about 500 dollars worth. But, I didn't think I was getting a yellow orange piece. Anyway when I picked them up from the upholster I saw these :embarrasm. Quality wise they're well done but I'm not sticking these yellow doors in my car. They're built up to house a 5 1/4" speaker which is included. The tweeter is already in the tweeter housing, it's apart of the Boston Acoustic component set. The factory kick pods house Morel 7" mid bass subs.

At the same time I was getting several gauges installed which necesitated the rigging of the center console and left AC vent/ headlight switch. The plan was to recover the center console and the lower parts of the dash. I purchased a lot of genuine Alcantara brand suede - enough to cover the A,B,C pillars, lower half of the dash, the door inserts (front and back) and the center console.

I tend to over purchase and tinker and as a backup I ordered another AC vent / headlight switch + a new center console if you prefer to go back to the map pocket and OBC that's an option for you.

thanks man :D - Huntsville, AL ... good southern car. It's a regional emergency if it were to even hint at snowing - that is to say it's never seen a salt covered road. I need to get under the car to take a couple pics and the wheel wells too. That can be for next weekend.

Here's a couple of the jambs until then. All of these pics give a peek that the doors are thoroughly covered in dynomat and have wiring pulled and waiting for the door coverings (shown hanging in DSC_0070.jpg). They have a different and more solid tone when being shut now.

You said that you just got a new mileage motor put in and you now have BMW group N cams...did you take the VAC stage 2 cylinder head off and you now have an oem s52 head? also, it appears you are still running obd2, is this correct? or have you converted to obd1?

very clean car man (except for the doors....i agree with you, those have got to go lol)

Ahh, the doors..!!! Yes man they're horrible. The the funniest part is I told them to cover the handles is leather and use a very heavy cross hatched stitch and jokingly I said have fun with it. They said they'd look in their spare bin and find something that 'matched'. I thought they would take that as, 'this guys cool he's letting us do our job he trusts our judgement.'

D-day: ----They put some pink and neon orange, zebra stripe wtf is that leather over the door grabs with....white heavy xxx stitiching. :help job well done boys. jeez. I thought to myself I have to pay for that----

Yes, still obd2 to work with the AA kit and correct it's 2 different heads. I still have the other vac head and schrick cams, rather they're at UUC for the moment I just haven't collected them yet. This new head has some work done on it but I'm not sure to what degree other than being cleaned up and trued it is.

1)this car is so clean, but and the Interior looks sketchy, like a track only car. If the interior was as clean and new looking as the exterior, with the gauges put in nice looking (no offence, the pillar looks great tho) / more of a street car interior then id be all over this car, and prob giving you an offer.

Sorry man I missed this. Have to look at my settings. Nah, never tracked but yes I know what you mean. I'm going to take it to an upholsterer and get the doors redone shortly.

GLWS. haha and sorry if it sounded wierd. i meant in the nicest way. like exterior, wheels, paint, seats, gauges look good. but the center console makes you feel like its strickly a race car... but based on all the high quality parts, cleanness, and well maintained, the cars reliable... and i think you should make the point that if a buyer wants to drive the car alot and not have it as a garage car, then the car is able to do that easily. and not to base it off the interior

Ohh no man no worries - yeah. I've needed to get it to an upholstry shop. So I've got an appt to get a look on Monday....if it's not raining, or snowing. Going to get the inserts on the doors redone, rear inserts, center console and see how much the rear seats would be to finish the color to one scheme. I'm pretty excited.

It was raining earlier in the week so I'll be taking it in for the appt today. Looking at getting the rear seat re-covered in alcantara, black C-pillars, blue alcantara inserts in the front and rear with black cross hatched stitching, center console covered in black as well as the under side of the dash and glove box covered in black. Should look pretty hot :cool

PS: in the future if i ever have the chance to build a e36.... it would look just like this, love the seats too.
