did i burn my clutch?

i was racing my friend who has an smg II m3, we did a few runs and during one of the runs, when i tried shifting from 2nd to 3rd, the car just stayed in redline even after i shifted, and i was not riding the clutch, i rode the clutch during launch, launching at abou 5500 anyway, this was 4 hours ago and i can still smell my clutch, but i tested it and its not slipping,

wats giong on why did the car stay in redline while i was shifting and why can i still smell my clutch?

I had the same problem, it re-occurs if I try to launch hard. I think our clutches are going south

thats happened to me more then once ... my "conclusion" is that when you race your clutch heats up to much for it to grab and it just slips ... you'll be all set ... launch at a lower RPM thats what i started doing

Yup You glazed it all right.

The surface will look polished with heat check cracks all over.

A couple of more trys and your flywheel will look the same way if it doesn't already.

It will be damn near impossible to face the flywheel below the cracks if it happened often enough.

i dont really know how else to explain it,i would be in first gear hit 6500 switch to second, get to 6500 go to switch to 3rd, once i hit 3rd the rpm didnt go back down it stayed at 6500, this happened twice,

so basically im gona need a new clutch soon or?

Yes you're going to need a new clutch. Go easy on it if you want it to last any longer.

damn.........well how much should i expect to pay for a new one, how soon and wat kind of upgrades should i consider getting if i have to get one?
