View Full Version : Wtb: Modena M3 Interior
I've searched, and searched, and searched but I can't find any modena interiors (salvage cars being parted, ebay, boards, etc) so i'm posting this to see if anyone possible has one for sale. I already have black interior, so even if you're selling just the seats or door panels that would be fine. This would be for a 2 door... email me if you do: abbassi@Bellsouth.net
thanks

I've been doing the same as you for just a pair of mulberry vaders. Still, no luck for me. I totally wish you luck in your search and here's a little bump for you ;)

You might be better off getting some dove gray vaders and door panels and redying them modena. Not sure what you'd do about the carpet though.

Man is it possible to dye dove grey to Modena? man theat would be nice, I wouldn't mind dying dove grey to Imoloa, but how in the hell do you get the color code for them to match? Dye the dove grey Vaders and ut them on black it looks better! The Mulberry interior is grey on black in the 5 series and i like black carpet better.

Funny, a couple months back i saw a modena M3/4 interior at a this junkyard down here. I couldn't believe it! The M was just piled on top of some totalled 318... and when i asked about the interior they didn't even know they had a car with it! crazy..

Not that I condone doing it, but I think I read that the plastic seatbacks will accept the leather dye as well.

clubsport332ti, do i have some good news for u!!! You dont even need dove gray vaders. You can do your black ones to modena. Practically, you can chnage any color seat to anything else. What you do is you prep the leather with special oils and cleaners, after which you sand it with sandpaper until you take off the old dye completely, to the bare leather. I know it sounds weird, sanding your leather and all, but it has been done many times, just do your own research to get the details and you will see. So wether its dove gray or black, it doesnt matter because you are gonna strip the old dye anyways. With black, however, you have to be extra-precise in removing all the black dye form your leather. After that, there is places, internet sites like leatherique.com that can send you custom leather dye, by you original car color, so you can request some modena dye from an e46 M3 for example. To do all the seats and the door panels would probably take you a good week, because there is several pauses you have to take inbetween steps, but its well worth it, instead of paying thousands for reupholstery or for new seats. The cost for all materials should stay below $200. Hope this helped.

Thanks, you would have to redye the back of the seats too, hardly something that involves a lot of work. The modena seat backs are black too, so if you had door panels to do as well, you could redye them with the same vinyl dye.

I wish, but at that time i had a black M3 non-lux interior being mailed to me. I think the salvage yard quoted me some outrageous price like $2,500. I know someone would pay it, i just think they would rather hold onto it and sell it to some bigshot for 2G's than work out a deal with a 19year old kid :dunno

My major concern is how do you dye the plastic. Like dove grey seats have grey plastic how would i dye that black permanently

Yeah i know what you mean, I know that you can use that same dye for the leather, on the grey plastic as well, and it turns out very nice. I am not sure though, about the prepping procedure for the plastic. Probably all you have to do is thoroughly clean it, and then dye it. Of course, you can always use interior plastic paint instead of the dye. In that case, you would get a special spray which is kind of like a primer, and spray that. Then you spray the color, and finally there is special clear coat for protection.
As far as switching from grey to black... no problem, you won't be able to tell it was grey if you do everything properly.
All in all I think this is a project that could save you big bucks, and could be fun too. If you have the time, I say look into it and go ahead :)

My buddy Atrane23 has modena lux in his 96 m3, he was talking about getting black vaders and black fold down rear seats, if some one wants to try and talk him into a trade you might have a chance.

Are you sure about this? As far a prepping the plastic you get a professional agent from an auto paint store, it puts a very good cleaning to the plastic and makes it hold paint
I think i've decided to go with some black powered vaders now if I can find some...
thanks
