So after some research, I decided not to opt for the extended warranty after the 50,000 miles mark on my 2007 328i sedan.

My question to you guys is: Can I take it for service to any high performance auto shop and have them perform the expected maitenance scehdule (clear service alerts, etc) ???

Also, any idea as to how much one could expect to spend on parts alone for the 50,000 mile mark (new timing belt, I think)?

Thanks all, truly appreciated.

Nothing special about 50k on these cars, and no they do not have a timing belt, they use a chain instead which almost never needs to be replaced.

Although most maintenance (fluids, belt, spark plugs, etc.) can be done by anyone, not many shops have the GT-1 engine analyser that can completely read and reset codes for BMWs. See bimrs.org, or ask around for other independents. Also check the local bmwcca newsletters for indys.
