E39 Intercooler Pics Anyone?

From a quick look around at the front end of my car a while ago, intercooler pipe routing and intercooler mounting looked rather challenging. I was just wondering if any of you had any nice shots of how you have setup your intercoolers and charge pipe routing, preferably with the bumper facia off.

I'm using an M5 front end, but maybe that doesn't open up the options as significantly over the standard front facia as I'm thinking. The standard ones do seem a bit less spacious...

Here are some older pics of my build with the intercooler showing. Iam not sure how this is gonna help you out cause the 540 engine set up is differant from the 528. I was just looking at Dirt's pics. It's a real clean looking install, that appears to only have a medium amount of fabrication done to the car itself for the charge pipes. I'm hoping there are more who may have done it differently though, just for ideas' sake.

So I take it your gonna twin turbocharge your 540? What do you have in mind as far as engine management ? That would be the first thing i'd look into before worrying about intercoolers and pipes.

I don't want to come across as disrespectful, or as a tool in any way, but I really don't want to discuss that sort of thing in this thread. I've seen how it goes on here, and once you step out on to that slippery slope, the discussion on the original topic is OVER!

So, I'd really like to keep this thread kind of limited to the original topic. If there isn't any more to be had in terms of intercooler/charge piping pics, so be it. If there is though, bring 'em on! :buttrock

So to route your hotside pipe downward from the blower, you had to re-locate your coolant reservoir a bit, right?

No disrespect taken. I can understand your point as I went through the same discussion's when I did my auto to manual conversion and even when I talked about turbo'n my e39. Either way let get back on topic :redspot
