I have a '97 M3, with the digital climate control. The heater works fine, so does the A/C, but regardless of what I have on, once I turn it off, I can feel hot air coming out the vents, specially once I am up to speed. It feels like one of the how air vents is partially open at all times. Has anyone else experienced this? Any fixes to it?
Also, whenever I turn the car on, the climate control turns on, even if I had it off when I turn off the car. I have not had any other e36's with digital climate control, so I was wondering if they all do this.
BTW, the GF has an '03 E46 and she does not have any of the problems above.
Any insight will be appreciated!!!

CC turning on is normal operation. I have two M3's and they both do this and have since I owned them well over 10 years.
As far as warm air from the vent?
Which vent?
It should only be the center vent.
If so your heater valve is not shutting all the way off the thumb knob in the middle of the vent which should be on blue might not be shutting off all the way too since it goes down the heater core...

Mine does the same, it is positive pressure, your center console/shifter is hot too for the same reason, however with the ac on the center console/shifter will stay cool. Mine is a '96.

OP,
Open your hood, next to your headers is a tube piping, they are small and thin. If there's some kind of vacuum leak it might cause the engine to throw hot air into your cabin. Just a thought.

Same thing was going on w/ my dad's Benz, there's tubing that goes from the EGR valve to a sensor, and when the piping had cracked where the sensor was, there would be heat coming into the cabin when it shouldn't have been. Depending on the severity of a vacuum leak it could throw a CEL. For him it came on once but the problem was happening even before the CEL.
