Did some searching but it seems (understandably) that most tire recommendations are focused more on performance tires. I have a set of Falken Azenis but am looking for a Grand Touring type for a daily driver stuff. 225/50R16. I had been looking at the General Altimax HP (good reviews) and am curious about Kumho ecowing (no reviews) compliments of Tirerack.

I'd rather not spend a ton, but at the end of the day I want a quiet tire that lasts a while. Don't need to worry performance for my 3 mile daily commute. Winter weather isn't an issue but it gets too cold here for summer tires.

Thanks in advance.

Hankook offer some pretty good quality tires at a great price. I would PM Jim@tirerack.com and see what kind of deals he can give you on a quality tire at a great price.

I too have hankooks on my Mitsu. and I love them. I would stay away from generals they just aren't worth it. Hankooks run the same price too, if you want to spend more bridgestone re960as were a really nice tire while I had them. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Anyone try a set of Yoko Avid Envigor?

The Envigor is a good tire with better than average wear. They also use a low rolling resistance rubber compound. We tested them with the 3 Series and they handle well in both wet and dry. If you get a lot of snow the Conti Extreme Contact DWS would be a good choice.
If I can help let me know.
