Are the center caps interchangeable from 17's to 18's? If so are you willing to sell me a set of caps only? I'm in need of a set for my 17" style 5's

I have to say, I had my doubts as the deals sounded too good to be true. I was half expecting 60 pound boat anchors with "Made in China" stamped just below "Genuine Brand" on them.

But I received my staggered set of 18" style 5s today, on time and perfectly packaged. They're real, and they're spectacular! With center caps still in their Genuine BMW packaging and part numbers.

Thanks for the great deal, Joe.

i emailed them about replacements but they were all sold out. To me it would be obvious to inspect before then send to the customer but i guess not. Talked to the manager on the phone and he said he would refund me $25 off the bill. I started laughing, 25 off for 4 wheels that have imperfections? Doesnt seem even to me. So he made me send pictures to him and this is what he emailed me back:
Tim,
Thanks for taking the time to send the pictures. After reviewing them, we are sticking with our initial statement. We will offer a $25 refund or you can return the wheels for a refund. This is the way that the wheels arrive to us from BMW and it is the same way that you would be receiving them from the dealership.

I wanted the wheels, that is why i ordered them. But i also was expecting new wheels. These are def not in new condition. Also if they were to come from the dealership like this i could just send it back and get another but i can not do that with ECS.

I don't think they're new at all, they seem to be (badly) refinished.

I guess go for the refund if they're not willing to budge.

As much as we would like to stick up for a fellow buisness, to us that is just unacceptable. Hopefully they do something for you as $25 doesnt seem fair for 4 damaged wheels

No wonder why they're only $800 bucks! It's still a very good deal but they should have at least mentioned that they are not brand new or mentioned that they are factory seconds. I almost ordered them too but like I said, no matter what they're still a good deal IMHO.

Dear tsweers89,

First off, I would like to personally apologize for this situation. Please understand that it is never our intention to ship any products in anything less then the best of conditions. Unfortunately, it is not physically possible for us to inspect every part that comes through our warehouse.

We only offer the highest quality of parts, thusly, we trust in the manufacturer's quality assurance process.

Due to the nature of the sale pricing of these wheels, we are unable to offer any further discounts. With the extremely high demand for these wheels, they are now No Longer Available from BMW worldwide and we are unable to source any additional sets.

I understand that you are upset, but unfortunately, our hands are tied beyond the offer of the determined dollar amount or being able to accept their return for a full and complete refund, with no cost of shipping to you and with all restocking fees waived.

Once again I apologize that this situation has come about.

Best regards,
Joe

WOW!
ECS is responsible for selling the wheels in new condition.
Or, the ECS sales add SHOULD read, refinished OEM wheels...
$25 is a slap in the face.
No excuses IMO.

This is what I would do.:
1. Take the style 5's to a wheel shop, get a price quote to have the wheels fixed/ refinished.
2. Get a receipt from the wheel shop, and send ECS the bill.

ECS should make this right.
Joe is a good guy, and always willing to help.
I am sure he can help to fix this.

Yes, but the buyer wanted/ bought 18" style 5 wheels.
If I had 18" style 5's in my hands, it would very hard to send them back... LOL!

Best option IMO would be to re-finish them and send ECS the bill.
Joe at ECS is good guy.
I am sure he can fix this.

ECS got what they could get from a quality standpoint - ECS wouldn't make a DIME - in fact they would lose their asses on a refinishing bill - I'm sure they have at most 20% profit margin on those wheels (okay, maybe more, tischer has the style 105's at 45/piece so ~210 for set compared to 350 from ECS) but obviously they can't eat the cost of a refinish job at ~150 or even 100 a wheel at a price point that low on wheels. they'll simply bring them in house - remark them as lightly used or whatever and still have them out the door at roughly the same price and someone else will gladly deal with the issues. it's all about setting expectations - if he was told they were going to be like that he probably would have still bought them.

ECS is standing up and doing exactly what they should be - good customer service is costing them ~100 bucks in shipping to make it right and they are doing just that

I agree with you.
I just think the seller should let the buyer know that the wheels have imperfections before selling the wheels.

I wouldn't disagree - but I doubt they opened every wheel box they got - unless they previously had issues with quality they'd do what any reseller does - receive it, stock it and sell it all without removing it from the box assuming it was of the previously received quality you would hope they could get from whichever BMW dealer/warehouse they deal with.

As stated before 4 of them have esc tuning tape on the wheel packages and one still has the bmw tape so obviously they took them out of the original packaging. These imperfections are easy to see so i dont see how they got past and sent on to the customer. There is also a few e39 guys that have had the same complaint. Obvioulsy i wanted the wheels, thats why i ordered them. but i was expecting new wheels and these are far from new.

Also they arent willing to work with me at all. Either return( which when i first talked to them, not joe, they stated i would have to pay for shipping them back) i only think since i posted this on bimmerforums has that changed. Or $25 dollars. I meen if they offered me $25 per wheel off i would of been happy. They could of lost money and gained a customer and maybe a few of my friends but they didnt they did the opposite.

again as i commented on other previous post about this situation, I doubt ECS will open every single package they have in their inventory. Like i said before this is just a case of bad luck, I'm sure 90-95% of the shipment they went out were in perfect shape. I can definitely say that mine was flawless.

As for the statement about ECS taping around the boxes, to my knowledge the ECS tape was on the outer box. The wheels were packaged so well that ECS used another box over the OEM BMW box. now the OEM BMW was not taped up by ECS only their outer box and from what it seems the OEM BOX was taped by BMW. This is how i received my package so if the wheels were in that shape when you received it, it would have happened through BMW.

you are correct about the tape. But as i am stating 3 of my inner boxes had the esc tape on them and only one had the oem bmw tape. So that lead me to believe that they were opened by ecs at some point.

As offered initially, we are willing to take the wheels back with a 100% full refund including all shipping charges.

We have looked into finding you a replacement set, however, they are currently not available from BMW here in North America, or in Europe.

I ordered a set of the style 85's in 18" for my e39, and 2 out of the 4 wheels had immediately noticeable imperfections on the face of the wheels. All 4 wheels were scuffed on the inside lip (as if they had been set down on the floor with nothing protecting them) and all 4 of the BMW boxes were packed with ECS tuning pieces of cardboard, and resealed with ECS tuning tape. I am not referring to the ECS tuning outer boxes, I mean the OEM BMW boxes themselves had all been opened up by ECS tuning.

When I contacted ECS, they offered a refund or $25 credit... I really need the wheels so I opted for the $25 credit, but I am quite upset that they did not let me know the "Brand new in box" wheels were in fact not "Brand new in box", and had scuff marks and imperfections on them. Needless to say, ECS has lost a customer through this experience :nono
