Hi all,

Trying to help out a co-worker who recently acquired a 335ia. He is looking for power mods within a $5k budget. Requirements are that the mods be street legal and that additional intake/exhaust noise is kept to a minimum. Is downpipe, software, exhaust the way to go? If so which vendors produce a reliable kit?

I'm a noob when it comes to tuning the 335 so I aprpecaite any reccomendations or assistance.

Thanks!

The best bang for your buck is the Juice Box 3 (http://www.jlevistreetwerks.com/p5936/Juice-Box-3-Performance-Tuner-for-the-135,-335,-%26-535/product_info.html) software upgrade. This is a fully customizable upgrade that has several different map options depending on what other mods you have on the car. I would do downpipes, intake and exhaust after the software upgrade.

Thanks Nick, Juice Box looks like a good first mod.

I'm a bit confused by the downpipe mod as it looks as though you must remove your precats is that correct? Will the car be unable to pass emissions after this?

Can you make a reccomendation on a company who produces these intake and exhaust components, preferably one that produces products that are on the quieter side?

Thanks for your help, still learning about this car.

Hey there,

You have two options with the DP replacement, you can go catless for maximum performance but the car will not pass inspection. We also offer high flow cats so the car can pass inspection but still have a performance gain. I suggest looking at the ar Design Downpipes (http://www.jlevistreetwerks.com/3-Series-E90,-E91,-E92,-%26-E93-%282006%2B%29-Performance/c399_65_335/p7697/ar-design-3-Inch-Hi-Flo-Downpipes/product_info.html) as they offer both options.

For the intake, check out the aFe Dual Cone Intake (http://www.jlevistreetwerks.com/3-Series-E90,-E91,-E92,-%26-E93-%282006%2B%29-Performance/c399_65_335/p4005/aFe-Cold-Air-Intake-for-the-N54-135,-335,-and-535/product_info.html) which you can do in oiled (max flow) or dry (easier maintenance and better filtration). This is what I ran on my 135 and it was a solid performer along with JB3 map 3.

We have a bunch of exhaust options depending on how loud you want it but check out our site as we have videos on there to listen to. I'd suggest Active Autowerke.

You may also want to look at Dinan upgrades. Their website is www.dinancars.com (http://www.dinancars.com). I've used their products on a couple of cars and have been very pleased.

We just started carrying the JB products from Burger Tuning as well.
Stay tuned for a full write up on the changes it makes to our 535xiT project car.

You can see the first few products here, and more will be added by the end of the week:

Awesome glad you like it! VF makes a solid kit, we ran one on our 328Ci and loved it.
