What does everyone do for added grip in the winter(if anything)? This is my first winter with my 85'. The grip does not seem that bad, car has good tires but was wondering if anyone puts a sand bag or two in their trunk or what.

Full tank of gas, winter tires, a bag of sand would help too.
Buy a FWD, or AWD beater. I have a Maxima.
Jeep Cherokee. :D It's broken tho so Im driving around in the e36. Traction is horrible with the street tires so I might throw on the bottle caps soon...

This is the winter beater! :D Im suprised at that because so many people drive these cars. Are the new bimmers fwd? I know kinda a bad idea to have a rwd car for winter but I like rwd and I do drive it all year, not just in winter.

Thats what I thought. Does everyone pull their shiny new BMWs in the garage for winter and just drive their shiny new SUVs? If this is the case that kinda hinders my plans to buy a nice BMW in years to come when I get out of college.

I buy my cars to drive. Have never had a garage queen. If it's really bad out, of course I will take the beater out.

Yeah Kev....it's sooo difficult to deal with 78 degree temps for Thanksgiving...Just doesn't seem right that it'll be 75-80 degrees and wearing shorts for Christmas :D

Are you making a joke saying you removed your traction control or are you saying I have traction control? I dont think I have traction control.

Yea I dont really know. I dont have it, and the back end slip a whole lot in just the rain. If you are talking about your 318 then you dont have it either, but you dont have a lot of torque from that motor either so it doesnt really matter.
Yea just buy some good winter tires and dont do anything real crazy and you should be fine.

I take my coupe out of the garage at least twice a week in winter. Never liked the idea of storing cars.
I also have a set of rims with Blizzaks for winter driving. That makes all the difference! :)

50 pound bag of cheap clay type Kitty Litter works wonders!!
Weight to hold the rear down and if you get stuck it is a great traction aid when spread under the wheels!
