Airbag hard reset?

Hey guys,
my friend has a mini cooper and his airbag light came on. He mentioned that there might be a hard reset under the carpet or something...

Does anyone know of a hard reset option, so he doesn't have to take it into the stealership?

I have this as well from removing my seats during an audio install, as far as I know the only fix for the airbag/seatbelt light is with an SRS reset tool or having the dealer plug it in.
I'm in a large city and on our regional Mini board I couldn't find any members with their own SRS reset tool so I'm driving around with the lights until I can go by the dealer.
