Hi guys, Mini Cooper 07, suddenly from one day to the other the driver's door won't open! I tried disconnecting the battery (only did negative though, I read somewhere I have to disconnect both?) and took it to a garage (I HATE the dealer as they have ripped me off before) and they told me its probably the BCU.
any other tips I could try except for loosing my mind and throwing a tree at the door to get it opened? :rolleyes
thanks!

Won't open from the inside handle? or from the outside handle? both? or won't unlock?
Is your car a hardtop or a convertible?

I feel like a new cinderblock key should be made...it fits perfectly between the roof and the top of the door sill...
What about the locking mechanism? Is there a way to access the door card while the door is closed?
Also is it a manner of unlocking or is it just not opening?

the actual locking mechanism works fine, and actually when the door is locked and I pull the inside handle it unlocks but it just won't open.
Thanks

So it's as if it was stuck shut. Were you unknowingly backed into or something that would jar the door shut? This is peculiar. It's not the actuator. You could have a frozen cable that runs to the actual door latch. You're probably gonna have to take the door card out to see what's fouled up on the inside.

the inner bowden cable has poped off door lock actuator.

I did, and it seems that all the cables are in order. I'm just going to have to take a trip down to the dealers.
Also it was very strange, one day I jsut came home after work and in the morning it didn't work.

the inner bowden cable has poped off door lock actuator.
Either that, or it's just stretched.
After you get it fixed, see if your dealer can program your car to unlock when you shut it off. Then you will only have to pull the inside handle once instead of twice to get out.
