This is a known scam to send you more money than your asking then, you send them money. After a few weeks, your car is gone and the check you got from them bounces and your out your car and the $7k you send them. International checks can take more than a month to clear, even after the your bank clears it. there is some international law that states they have to make the funds of the check available 24 hours, but if it bounces later, your out.

Nope, this is a scam, same as the Nigerian ones that's been plaguing car sellers in the US for some time now. :(

Yeah... big ol' scam. Kind of scary... because, that's a serious scam... you could have gone through with it no problem... used to be a lot harder to scam someone that big.

God bless the internet!

Dude, if you even have to ask!

Actually, let him know that you are ok with the deal, but he will have to wait a month or so for his check to completely clear before you send any refund. I bet you don't hear back from him.

Also let him know that you feel he is running a scam and he will have to prove otherwise.

Maybe you can get him to send funds in U.S. Cash, but the exact amount needed, and no more.

Ask for a direct wire transfer of the funds (US) and tell him you will comply when your bank acknowledges receipt of the funds.
That'll get 'em :D

I sold my S2000 in favor of an E36 M3. Never regretted it. The M3 is a true decathlete, and does everything pretty damn well.

Glad to hear you like it your M3. I don't want to give up my Vortech SCed S2000, but it's no longer just my wife and I now. We have a baby on the way so I need to get something that can seat more then two people. A E36 M3 is what I want and I hope to find one shortly.
