i have an engine that is premo- it has 13K on it :)
was thinking of doing a "full build" on this thing- studded heads, rods, pistons, ported etc.etc.
so who wants/needs a built N54? i can see big power happening with a built engine :devillook
if not im gonna go thru it and put it back together stock :D

I don't think its really been needed yet, stock fueling and the lack of upgrades for the direct injection is always going to be the limiting factor. HPF will probably be the first ones actually pushing the limits of the stock bottom end, and probably the first to offer a built turnkey solution :devillook

Actually there is an e90post member (HPF #1) that is getting his engine built up by HPF. There's pics of a prototype intake manifold with what looks like additional port injection to address the fuel delivery limitations.
Interestly, no one's ever cracked open the N54 bottom end (or at least posted pics of it) until recently. It's actually a very beefy and stout bottom end.

agreed that it is a built bottom end- but Hbeam rods and JE forged pistons, with some decent port work wouldnt hurt anything :D

i hear not many have broken 600hp

I should send you the flow bench data I have for N54 heads....was kind of disapointing....

really? i mean, they are just casted intake runners with no machining really. i didnt expect them to be out of this world- the turbos are kind of a band aid to that.
the N52/N52KP heads are CNC machined, kinda like a S54 head....

i think the size of the turbo's and lack of additional fueling is the holding back part.....
hows about that N55 twin scroll turbo? AFAIK, its the same cylinder head configuration----- so it could be bolted on a N54 maybe?

There are a few running 18psi+ with meth and small dry shot of nitrous resulting in 500+rwhp.

sold :cool
there are a few tuners in Europe building the motors.

it seems that at this point in that engines life, no really impressive whp numbers are coming out.
i'd like to see a conversion to a single turbo, with a gass flowed head and custom manifolds,
thatd prob make some numbers and also probably die very quikly.

Only HPF would render the advantages of DI useless. :rofl
Next from HPF: Carbureted S54 Turbo Kits! Only 80,000 Dollars!

There is an ecu for everything be it stock or not.

I dont know, there are some pretty good numbers coming out of the stock turbo's recently both on the dyno and the drag strip.
Mid 11's at 124mph or so are getting more common on full mods, race gas and meth. Adding in nitrous is getting low 11's and i'm sure soon to hit the high 10's. Id be satisfied in a sleeper daily w those numbers?
StartupJunkie ran these yesterday, after analyzing his datalogs he figured out he was only 80% throttle until mid point of 3rd gear, so he's got some time to still knock off w just more throttle. The times are pretty repeatable, stable, and impressive if you ask me:
Run #1 - 11.614@123.840 MPH (60' --> 1.676, 1/8 Mile --> 7.513@95.055 MPH, 81 degF)
Run #2 - 11.615@124.114 MPH (60' --> 1.705, 1/8 Mile --> 7.525@95.917 MPH, 80 degF)
Run #3 - 11.535@124.423 MPH (60' --> 1.641, 1/8 Mile --> 7.457@96.009 MPH, 80 degF)
Run #4 - 11.618@123.313 MPH (60' --> 1.629, 1/8 Mile --> 7.502@95.160 MPH, 79 degF)
Run #5 - 11.570@123.349 MPH (60' --> 1.642, 1/8 Mile --> 7.466@95.660 MPH, 72 degF)

yup they are expensive, but no one comes close for the e46...period.

Adding port injection as supplement is hardly a bad idea when no one makes bigger injectors.

those are some very impressive numbers, the consistency is really there,
how much nitrous are you hitting?
my guess would be no more than a 100 shot

I didnt run those times, StartupJunkie on e90post did. he is fully modded running race gas and meth, but no nitrous. With nitrous he would be pushing lowwww 11's at my guess 127-129mph. Seems most are running a .28 jet. Dont know what HP that equates to but it seems to be a large increase, should put him over 500whp.

nice you got a link? ill have to check that out. in my opinion bmw's aren't really drag cars so when i see them breaking 11 second mark its pretty impressive.
is that your ss in your avatar? me and my dad built a '70 T/A puts down a modest 1068whp with nitrous.

Tuning will be your biggest issue as always.
