Weight of all the 6ers was right around 3400-3500 lbs.

You'll have to wait til tomorrow when I can go home and check my reference book "BMW 6 series, an enthusiest's companion" by Jeremy Walton.. Perhaps the best 6er book out there. has just about all the info you could ever want on these beautiful cars.

Any other questions?

and Might I inquire why you need such esoteric stats?

Well I have a website and I need such information to put on there. It's really hard to find that kinda info on the net because the cars aren't very popular.

Hey but thanks for helping me out!

It's really hard to find that kinda info on the net because the cars aren't very popular.

You aren't looking in the right place then. It's not that they aren't popular, it's that they havne't been produced in 13 years. Further, in 14 years of production life of the body (76-89) they only built about 85000 of the bodies WORLDWIDE, further, only 26000 or so "American" versions were produced, now, of course, a few thousand european cars made it in the the early 80's when such importing was popular, making actual numbers in the states a little fuzzy.

As far as "aren't very popular" Why don't you go price some 84-89 bimmers, 3's, 5's, 6's and 7's in good-very good condition, then tell me what the comparable selling prices are for those vehicles. The 6er holds it's value better than any other bimmer of comparable age. (M car's excluded, although the M6's like I have, hold a little more value than the M3's and M5's of the same era.)

Having spat all of that out, I forgot my reference book this AM, so it'll be tomorrow before I can give you the exact dimensions of the cars.

Early models (77-82) were built off of the E-12 5 series chassis. After that, (83-89) they were built off of the E-28 5series chassis.

So unpopular, NO!! they are not.. Rare and HArd to find - YES they are.

try

www.roadfly.org there's a quite active 6er board over there that I frequent someone may have the stats you are looking for over there B4 I can get them here.

Thanks man,

and i didn't mean anything by saying they aren't popular... maybe i should have said "hard to find". My uncle has an M6 and I love his car... I'm not a 6er hater!

Sorry, I am a bit obsessive sometimes. My Girlfriend says she's 3rd or 4th. Behind both the 6er cars I currently own and My kitten.

If you need anything Just Post, yell or e-mail me, I'll be happy to respond, I am trying to keep traffic up on this particular board.

Hi

Maybe we should crosstalk the 6 and 8 boards to keep the little lightbulbs lit!!

My only 6 pics are what is supposed to be the 8 series test mule wrapped in 6 skin!

I've seen a shot of that one before, from what I understand, they were testing the 12 pot powerplant destined for your car B4 the 8 series chassis' were ready, so they crammed it into the bay of an E24.

FWIW - I was down at My mother's for thanksgiving and retrieved 2 old R & T's that have road tests of the 850i in them from 90-91. Neat stuff.
