why does my car run bad and hesitates when i gap the plugs to the specifications? i tried many plugs and even NGKs and no difference. Now the plug gap is very very small and i have to keep it that way to keep my car running smooth. is it that because it has a weak spark? if so what could be causing it? coils are nice and tight and wires look good.

oh soooooo many things...Are you sure your specifications are correct? Did it run correctly before this? Did you damage the tip trying to gap it?

Have you been trying iridiums only?

whens the last time the coils were replaced? if they're from '94.... i wouldn't be surprised if they're bad.

also.. is it every cylinder? pull one coil at a time and see what happens.... if you pull a coil and it runs worse, then it's probably ok.. but if you pull one and it keeps running the same, that's your problem cylinder.

i've never replaced the coils before, i did a resistance test and the ohms were right.:confused the problem got worse and worse within a few months, started with a sputter and a bad hessitation till i replaced the plugs. the problem came back after driving for a few blocks so i experimented with the plug gap and noticed it ran perfect with the gap real close. but idk lol

that could be because the coils aren't sending enough juice in there... are they getting the proper voltage?

it could also be caused by a very lean, or a very rich air/fuel mixure....

yeah i also checked the voltage and was within limits. also once in a while when idle i hear like a missfire so im assuming it can be the coils too old. some ppl told me to disconnect the maf sensor and see how it would behave but didn't feel a difference. the MAF would controll the air/fuel mixure right?

yea, the MAF plays a part in the air/fuel mixture.

i think you should start pulling one coil at a time and see what happens.
