View Full Version : Squeaking Wiper Blades: What to do??
Now that the rain is falling in full-force here in Vancouver, I need to rectify this very annoying problem of SQUEAKING wiper blades. My wipers have been squeaking more than wiping for a while now. I thought this was a sign for replacement but the squeaking hasn't gone away once replaced with the new blades. This is not only a problem with my car (92 325is), but also with my bro's 97 M3 as well.
In the meantime, I've resorted to running the wipers in 'delay' mode in order to minimize the squeaking but that's just a short-term fix. I'm at a loss as to what to do next.
Any suggestions?? :help

i had the same problem with my previous car... a 240sx and never could get rid of it. I did try different brands of wipers and found 1 brand to be better but i dont remember what brand anymore.. that was on my back in the day 1993 240sx. (My first brand new car. :))

you need to clean your windshield. you need some industrial crap that will take away the film that built up. i wish i knw what the name of the product was. i saw it once on motorweek.

clean your window with Dawn dish soap. It is also a good idea to wash your car with this one time a year. It will strip off all of your old wax, road grime, oil, etc. when your done, buy some rain-x for your windshield and wax your car. your car will thank you and your windshield will be squeek free.
Clean the windshield with Stoners Invisible Glass. It worked for me.
Good luck

If the rain x doesn't work... try checking the blade and making sure the rubber wiper (don't know technical term) is connected correctly to the blade itself. That's what fixed my sqeaking problems.

use some bon ami cleaning powder to wash your windshield. supposedly even nasa uses it to clean their windows.

you need something alcohol based that would take off all the film and grime that has built up, then coat it with rain-x...
