Does anyone know what an estimated price would be to powedercoat the sport package rims on an 2007 bmw 328i coupe anthracite and paint the chrome around the windows black as well as the grill?

I'd estimate around $100 per corner for the wheels depending on the quality of the shop and amount of prep needed. That's about how much I paid for some wheels I had refinished recently at least. Larger wheels might be a bit more. Most shops will give you a rough quote if you call them.

Painting the trim you could really do yourself with minimal effort or cost. Just pop it off, clean it, key the surface, prime and paint with desired color. I've never tried to paint over that plasti-chrome stuff personally but it shouldn't be too hard really. I'm sure there's info on google on how to tackle it properly though.

Having a shop do it would be a couple hundred dollars at least again depending on the prep time and the number of parts. Even more if you have them remove and reinstall the parts for you.

Personally, I would suggest vinyl wrapping the window trim black instead of painting it. Like Matt said, I don't really know how the paint will hold up on the trim. And when removing the trim for paint, chances are that you will probably break some clips, they are pretty easy to break from what I have heard.

I'm just not a huge fan of chrome and thats one of the reasons i wanna paint it black because i think it would look much better. Is vinyl easily damaged and what do you guys think about powdercoating the rims anthracite?

I think that the vinyl will hold up pretty well. The nice thing is that you can get it installed pretty cheaply, or DIY. And it is also reversible if you ever decide to go back. My only worry about painting is how well the paint will hold up, if it ever starts to chip or flake then it will look like crap. And unlike vinyl, you have sanded down the trim so you can't go back to stock without buying new trim.

IMO, I would just buy the black plastic grill replacements. It's pretty inexpensive, and would also take care of the chrome on the face of each slat.

As for the anthracite rims, I think that would be far too much of the same color. I personally like a little difference. I imagine black rims would look better if you can't deal w/ the stock.

Just my $0.02

I saw that you can purchase a black grille and that is what i believe i will do, is there a way to purchase black molding for the car? I've been looking at what color to powder coat the rims and i found this M3 with antrhacite looking rims, it is the same body color and rims just painted. Here is the picture:http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt88/th3xf4ctor/clip_image001.jpg

What do you guys think? I think black may be a little awkard, but thats my thinking. Any comments and suggestions appreciated.

If I was to go that way I'd make sure the trim matched the wheels. But that's just me.

Gotcha, because if you look in this picture you can see the trim is black here.

Replacement grill, vinyl wrap (both can be had for less than $100 as a DIY) and black wheels.

Wrap can be had in matte or gloss to match wheel finish.

I would def go with mattle black, it will make the front of your car look so smooth and mean.

does the matte black grill come with the black pieces above the grill? There is currently chrome surrounding the grill & above the grill.

A post from a few weeks back said that (GRL906000) is the part # JlEViSW. There is also another grill available that makes the chrome pieces the same color as the paint (Montego Blue)

I went with the Jlevis one for my 335i. The grills are matte black (2 seperate pieces) and just pop right in.

Im primarily on the e90 forums with same sn and just recently been on these forums so dont let my number of posts or time fool u

OP I would suggest painting the grill your self its easy...use plasti dip...you can find it at home depot for $5 a can there is a DIY on the e90 forums its super easy and you really get that matte look.

for powder coating rims chk this out only $200 for all 4 wheels.

I noticed your in walnut creek so I would get your window trim wrapped which is cheaper or get it professionally painted which would cost easily $300 and up. due to the time taken to take of the parts and how tedious it is. Talk to Vincent at Omega Tintwerks in pleasanton he does good work.
