Hi there -

I had a "low mileage" oil change probably 3 weeks ago, and the SA told me (as well as in the work order) that the next scheduled is in 2700- 7/2010. I am going thru my normal driving patterns and the number keeps reducing. On Friday I noticed that it was 900 to go and then Sunday the Service warning lights came on in RED. I checked the oil (and my garage floor)- it was still at MAX and OK (no leaks on the floor either). I am assuming that the Service light came on in red is that the calendar turned to 8/2010. I am taking this to the dealer this weekend which is a 30 mile drive.

Has anyone experienced this possibly programming snafu or is this a legitimate thing that I should be concerned about.

Thank you for your comments

The service interval changes according to your driving habits. This is nothing to be concerned about.

Ok - so I go to the dealer to have the Service Light reset - (I had a low mileage oil change in 6/10). Car came out and they reset it to 22k and the SA said that it pretty much voids the "90 day" service. I asked about the SA and I was told that I either would have dealt with the "Service Light" being red until I came to the 90 day period or getting it reset and be done with it.
I guess my question is... they reset the light and no oil change and they expect this to be ok? And they have me going out to 22k (till the next oil change). When did they start doing that - going to 22k instead of 15k. Also is anyone familiar with the Maintenance Policy.

thank you

Apparently the 22K between oil changes is now the normal limit, mine recently did the same. After about 500 Miles it went down to 21K so I guess it’s overly optimistic on the millage for the next oil change.
