Tell me about these rims please

looking on craigslist i came accross these, i have already contacted the seller and i am going to look at them. do you think these are authentic bmw rims? will they fit my e36? feedback please

Regardless, Hard to tell if they fit or not since the seller didn't list the wheel's offset. What car did the seller have them on?

Going by the picture of the tire they weren't on a car for a while. So they could be dried out and need replacing.

The seller says they fit on a 3 or 5 series, but the offsets are not the same for 3 and 5, just the lug pattern is the same. However, the title says they're "3 series rims", suggesting they came off a 3 and might have the right offset for a 3. He doesn't say how wide they are, but the 225 tires mean they're not overly wide so even the offset of the 5 may be workable, but you should do a forum search or wait for someone more knowledgable on the subject.

Don't like them very much though. And they're not authentic bmw, pretty sure about that.

I've never seen those rims on a bmw, and they would have been chromed afterwards then anyway? Better check that out, you don't want to buy from a liar. Also, 350 for oem wheels with ok looking tires? :S

I'm not sure, but I think that BMW 3 & BMW 5 Series cars do not share rims. The offset is different by a pretty significant margin. Any claim that these rims "fit 3 and 5 series cars," is not accurate.

have the seller find a # inside the rim that starts with "ET"

hell.. have him give you ALL #'s found on the inside and relay them to you.

If its around ET15.. then they are for a 5 series

if it's around ET35.. then they are for a 3 series.


judging just from the pics, it looks like it's the latter and work for a 3 series.

NO, they do not look like OEM BMW rims..
you also need to verify the hub centric measurement.. thats the hole in the center that slips over your hub.. it must be a perfect match.
Sorry I dont have the #'s on hand.. but if it's larger, you'll have massive vibration issues.. if it's smaller, you'll never get the wheels on your hubs/rotors.

I think you would do better to post in the Wheel/Tire forum about this.. get more info.. but unfortunately at that price.. they will be gone by then :(

We'd all LOVE to have negative ET spacers.. but that would violate all forms of the laws of the Universe.. maybe if they were an antimatter alloy of sorts.. THEN they might work! LOL

if in '07 the offset is the same for both 3's and 5's.. it would work as long as the '07 5ser is ET35ish with a hub centric of exact same spec as E36's..

but I dont go into the realm of Banglerdesh.. I stop at 1998.. so I dunno..

the CL seller obviously dont know jack what he has.. OR..... he is making his ad so loose to create a false comfort towards the ignorant buyers
