My mom is in the market for a car. Me being a BMW fan, i'm obviously trying to get her to buy a BMW. She instead wants to get a CLS500, which really is an amazing car..probably one of my favorites. I however don't think it's practical for her. The cars are just getting out of warranty, only seat 4, are HORRIBLE on gas, and tiny windows w/ blind spots (hard for her because she has some neck problems). Our budget is 30k, so she can get a 2006 CLS500 w/ ~40-60k miles on it.

On the other hand, she could get a White 2008 335i E90 w/ 30kish miles (or a 5 series) for around the same price. Would the warranty be transferrable and how long does it last? Basically, what I am asking, is do you guys have any selling points that I can use? Thanks everyone

I would see a mom in more of a 328 instead of a 335 but hey I hear you. Tell her to test drive both and let her decide. If she gets the 335 because of you and then has some HPFP issues or limp mode episodes she might blame you for all her troubles... (not good)

On the other hand I can live with all those negative things just to experience the power of the 335 engine every day as it thrusts me back in my seat on my way to work and back. That alone gives me much joy in this short life.

So in short I would let her decide man.

We just brought 2010's a 328 for mom and 335i for me. If she like a smooth ride
I think the 328 would be better. Don't know if by 2010 they have the fuel issue
worked out or not guess I will find out

If you have a voice in maintenance, or problems if they arise, than your input
is right on. Do a comparison of the two and say here are the plus's of the BMW.
Most women don't get that detailed on a car.

A 328 is the way to go, every 335 is going to need the HDP replaced at some point which is frustrating if it blows on a major highway... (happened to me). A 328 with around 30k miles would be a good fit as it is a smooth ride and not as much power as the 335 so the car won't jerk and possibly hurt her neck.

What' an HDP? You mean the high pressure fuel pump (HPFP)?
