So I thought my stock head unit was biting the dust because my sound would cut out randomly for short periods of time, then work fine for the next hour... I replaced it with an aftermarket from my previous car and thought the issue would be solved for sure.
Every once in awhile the sound will still cut out. Where should I look next? Obviously, all the new wires behind the stereo have been checked and are securely connected because I did it myself.
No big deal, I'm enjoying my sound, but I might as well figure this thing out.

Sounds like your factory amp is on its way out. I'd make sure the connections at the factory amp are solid. Does the sound cut out after hitting a bump? If one of your speakers is intermittently grounding out, many amps will go into protect mode, not sure if the factory amp has some sort of shut-down feature though. I would still lean towards your factory amp biting the dust.

Hmm, one of the door speakers is a little crackly from time to time. I wonder if the amp is doing some kind of protect thing like you said... I will check the amp wires. (Where is it? LOL). I have heard others talk of this... If not, I might get adventures and take the doors off, and while I'm at it, paint the mirrors.
I just got this car a month ago, so you'll have to forgive my ignorance.:rolleyes
