I recently bought a new 328 xDrive Wagon after having a 2007 328xi coupe for 3 years. The 2007 coupe would recognize the band/album name/track information, on about 1 in 3 CDs. After reading the owner's manual cover-to-cover for the new car, I was happy to see that the identification service, Gracenote - which I recognized from iTunes, was part of the my new iDrive. So, I figured that more of my CDs would be recognized. But I haven't found a CD yet that the car recognizes!
Has anyone had better luck? Does the service just not work? Having the new hard Drive to store music on is great, but without any of the data from the CDs, it looks awfully bare in the split window screen with blank info for band, album, and track name. Of course, the dealers are clueless about this when I ask...
Maybe I'll just have to download music to the hard drive from the USB port in the glovebox if I want all of the data?
