I'm going to recover my seats, door panels, etc. I like the feel and wear of the E46 M3 seats, so where can I get the bulk leather by the yard other than the dealer? On a related note, is it possible to buy new M-Cloth? I didn't see a part number for it on RealOEM.

Well you can go to tandy leather and see what they have for upholstery leather. It will be better than a lot of what car companies use. Toyota for instance has a super thin cut of leather which they back with a fabric... my parents 95 avalon (flagship) didn't make it 4 years before that gave out. I remember pulling up to a 89 bmw convertible at that time and the leather was still in better shape (despite the guy having left the top down)

I'm sure tandy will have various levels of quality and texture to choose from. I'm mostly into veg tan leather for holsters so I only know a little about upholstery leather.

Alternatively, if you have lots of money and you want the best you might contact:

and see if they will sell you a few skins?

If you own a business there are a couple other options I can PM you about. As long as you get top grain in the correct weight and finish you should be fine. It's finding leather with a high quality finish that might give you some trouble. If you are ordering via the internet definitely pay for a sample before you buy whole hides.
