I am thinking of buying an enclosed trailer which will house two track-only cars a generator. It's one of those rolling garages you see at the dragstrip.

Since the 328i is my only work car, I was pondering if it would be possible and/or wise to use it as a towing vehicle. Are ball hitches available for the 328i? Can the car safely handle the load?

Two track cars plus tools is likely way too much load, even going by European standards. You might be able to find what the car is rated for over there, with some searching.

However, in the US, BMW does not rate their cars for towing, and having a trailer hitch would probably automatically trash your powertrain and suspension warranty to begin with. Getting the right hitch is your next problem.

For that much, get a truck or big SUV.

If the track cars are RC cars, I'd say you're in good shape. Otherwise.. its sounds very unsafe. Any enclosed trailer big enough to hold two cars (even if they're lightweight track cars) is going to need something with considerable wheelbase (read: big truck or SUV) to pull it safely. A big trailer, and short wheelbase tow rig ends up in a "tail wagging the dog" type driving experience.
