View Full Version : Revalving shocks?

I've been told that the Bilstein (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1495217#) Shock/Strut combo is effectively valved for up to around 550lb springs. Of course, if I wanted to go higher, I would need to have them re-valved. The question then becomes, would it be worth it, especially if I were planning to run a higher spring rate in the rear, to bring the wheel rate near the fronts (or am I confused?)

Would there be an advantage of valving them down to match the spring rates I choose?

And at what point to higher spring rates become ineffective on street tires? This car is, and will be my daily for the foreseeable future, but also my track car (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1495217#), so comfort (for the occasional date) is a consideration, but mostly performance, and not repeating the same step are what I am worried about the most.

I'd just like to add: I'm not interested in buying a new set of Shock/Struts.
