I have been looking at an e30 about 86 model vin#wbaa720407997757. Most vins seem to have a 5th letter this one does not? It is an import so can not get much info here in Aust. It was imported new from england. Any books that came with it are for 325 but it is down as a 323 here. It has got m3 badges but this may have been a dealer special car?? Can anyone help??

the first three look right... but other than that, i am not sure how the VINs are in australia.... it looks about right for that age though.

The vin i assume is factory stamped, but when this car came to aust they registered it as a 323 because it was easier to get it into the country.the car has (or so i am told) flares, spoilers, rear wing, m3 badgeing, recaros with 5 point harness (drivers side), press button start, oil and fuel pressure gauge combined, lumpy cam , oversized head porting, custom exhaust (bigger), 2.9 ltr, very low suspension clearance (70mm, now raised to 100mm) and something different with the angle of the front strut towers (or something like that as i have to inspected yet) all fitted from new? I am going to look at the car this week and was wanting to arm myself with some knowledge!! any info or remarks would be appreciated as i am running out of time to purchase...

I thought a motorsport car would be WBS.

yea, it's titled from BMW as a 323i production 10/1985 Euro spec.

""This vehicle was a special import from england as a motor sport special with a 2.9 ltr 6 cylinder engine. Built to compete in the european motor sport as a pre-run prior to the release of the m3 4 cyl coupes."" This is what i have been told but obviously not confirmed..Does any one have similar or heard of such a car?
