Battery needed jump today. Coworkers helped me out.

'08 335xi, 24K, WTF?

Purchased as a CPO in the spring.

I've never been stranded by an American car. Sorry, couldn't help that.

Performance is excellent, but if Ford didn't give a damn about paint quality (unbelievable how water marks stain the Sapphire Black) or reliability (really, battery at 24K?), they could provide this performance in a new vehicle for the same price as my '08.

Long time bimmer owner at work says he has never had a problem like that.

Everyone asks me if I left something on...uhhh, no; been driving two and four wheel performance models since '76, know how it's done. I don't leave stuff on.

Will follow with developments....

Just got unlucky. Leave a light on anywhere?

Could just be a bad battery. Unfortunatley BMW doesn't make batteries.

I've never been stranded by an American car.I almost spit coffee on my monitor when I read that... You must never have actually driven an American car from the 70s and 80s then because they were absolute crap for the most part.

Did you seriously just use a dead battery to condemn German engineering at large? Come on, troll elsewhere...

It is covered by a warranty so why fret?

It doesn't matter if your car is Sapphire Black, Cosmos Black, Lexus or Mercedes black or any other colour black. You will see things on the paint. If you keep a decent coat of wax on (something carnuba) then it's minimised. I have two sapphire black BMW's and even keep a decent coat on my track car.

Shit happens to everyone no matter what they are driving. But it is especially annoying when you are meticulous in caring for your car and something nasty happens to it. Still, it is better to have shit happen while driving a BMW, than to have it happen to you in some shit-wagon that is all you have to drive for the next few years.

So, Don't Worry, Be Happy! Life is short and then you die, as my best friend likes to remind me when I get upset over small stuff.

When we bought our Honda Oddysey brand new off of the lot a few years ago, with only 10 miles on the odo the dealer sent it to the service bay to have the battery charged while we did the paperwork. Apparently this battery had sat too long, they had just gotten the car that morning, and the battery was weak. Never had a problem after that. (had the car 3 years.)

Yup, brand new cars can be really bad for batteries failing. They do a lot of sitting from the time they roll off the line until an owner takes it home from the dealer.

The battery in our May '07 328i died yesterday. The car was ordered and gets driven almost every day, so it didn't sit on a lot or in the garage for any length of time.

Just like in our old e46, it couldn't be jumped from the underhood connection, but had to be jumped directly from the battery in the trunk.
