2008 335xi On acceleration from stop slight hesitation and sometimes jerking acceleration? I'm told this is turbo lag... Is it? If not what is it caused by?

6MT or AT? do you mean as you slow and then speed up it jerks or from a complete stop? might be that silly break hold feature...

It is a lack of response to my stepping on the gas from stop by a second or two, I don't think it's the brake hold (hill hold) feature it's a AT. I'm told it might be the electronic delay due to the fact it accelerates by electronic signal from peddle to engine?

This is normal in my experience with BMW autos. It's either not warmed up yet or you are wailing on the pedal abruptly (relatively speaking). My 325 likes a gentle foot on the pedal as well or it will jerk just as you described.

Is there another way to drive?

it's called drive by wire. Get used to it. It's a lot slower in my 335i than it was in my STi, very annoying sometimes.

I don't see this in my 335 but I have not had the latest engine SW update by BMW.
I was told today by the service advisor they are updating all 135's with the software that retards the performance. All I was told to help the HPFP. That is what I was told and of course I said uh-huh interesting.
OP have you slipped the tranny into sport mode and tried this again?
I was also told that BMW can disable the hill hold feature which I absolutely hate...

You can get a mod for this it's called Sprint Booster Drive-by-Wire Power Converter @ http://www.bavauto.com/shop.asp I've been considering this mod for my annoyance
Fun 2 drive.. yes I have tried it in sport, better response but slight hesitation is still there. I think it's inherent in drive by wire!
