View Full Version : always wondered twin screw cooling...

I have been wondering how does a twin screw actually work in cooling the air with or without an intercooler? This whole process baffles me. I know how supercharger and turbos systems get their air cooled but seeing as how the twin screw is right next to the intake manifold how does it cool? does it have a built in aftercooler or something?
if it helps i was referring to a twinscrew kit i have seem for example on eurosport. thanks!
Sandwiched between the compressor and the head is a housing for 3 cylindrical "laminova" cores -- through which coolant circulates --that are plumbed to a heat exchanger mounted in front of radiator.

yep... one of the many things that contribute to the expensive nature of this kit vs the cheap centrifugal kits.

I still have not figured out why most turbo set-ups use an air/air intercooler and many SC set-ups use air/water. Also, which is supposed to be better and why?

is it not the piping and compressor placement?
as in the piping to an IC would be more difficult / cramped to route on a SC than a turbo? because how i understand it is there are three pipes (intake to compressor, hot side to IC, and intake) in one small area.
although i mainly just lurk... this is just what i have gathered
