Hey guys

im soon about to purchase a 3 coupe and ive been debating between white and black for quite a while now and cant seem to decide. Either colour i plan on blacking it out with black rims+tints+taillights. If anyone has picture id appreciate you posting them.

Thanks.

if you get white, the whole blacked out look would look much better because there will be more of a contrast. unless you like the murdered out look:rolleyes

murdered out is best on 90s benzos imo. go white

I had the same dilemma when picking out the color for my next e90. I could not find many photos of AW LCIs. AW looks great on these cars, but I could not convince myself that I will like white on a day to day basis for 3+ years, so I stuck with the tried and true Jet Black. Afterall, nothing really beats the shine of a black car and I am not too picky about dust and swirls, etc.

I had a jet black/black 07 335i coupe. I now have an AW/saddle 2011 335i coupe. The JB looked dirty 20 minutes after you washed it. Always had swirl marks and was a disaster to keep clean. I have had the AW now for about 6 weeks. I washed it after 2 weeks and it still looks clean now. Had the windows done with 35% carbon tint, and it really looks good. Never would I go back to black again. (I always say that, and then I buy another one). I have had 3 black cars and 3 white cars in my time. Not to mention a few silvers and grays. If you have plenty of time and like the work go with the black. Otherwise go with the white.

The whole "all blacked out" thing is played out imo

+1. It is a matter of personal taste, but in my opinion a bit of contrast always enhances the looks of a car. If it is all black, then you will not see any lines and none of the car's dynamic design aspects will stand out. To each their own I guess.

I like both color.

If you go with black, you need to prepare to wash/polish/wax your car often cuz dirt, scrach, swirl marks, etc show very easily on darker color. (Note, dont polish your car right after you get your car. Let the paint settle down for at least 3 months before polish. You only need to polish your car twice a year. You can get all the details from detailing forum).

If you go with white, please make sure you get Metallic White. Alpine white will look like crap after 3 or more years. Alpine white is just not right to me. (my own point of view)

White is more like unisex (I'd see women would also look good in it as well) but black is very manly. It impresses right from the second you see it. Dark beige or terra interior with black is a killer. I had 06 330 like that and it had some look... Now I having white/light beige 08 335i and although it is still looks good but not good as in black. I compromised on it as it was too hard to get the certified used in this color with all the packages I wanted. The car looks bigger in white though.

white > black for E92/3
black >>whtie for E90.

OP, are you getting a 35 or 28? b/c AW N52 E92s are chick cars.

MY 128i coupe is JB, although it's a pain to keep clean, when it's clean it is much nicer than the white IMHO. Although white looks cleaner from far than black, it has its own maintenance issues! If I were to re-order my 128i today I would have gone for the BSM, from what I hear there is less swirl in the BSM.

Blue Water Metallic. :)

If I were you I would go with Black; I never really liked AW.

Plus/Minus
Black...looks terrific...when clean and well polished..you into detailing or have $$$ to spend on it often?...shows dust (Le Mans Blue...i've got same problem..got a CA car duster to dust lightly between washes). Dark colors hotter than hell in summer..except in Toronto..eh! Nicks/scratches show up more on dark car...and the only dark car I've had (Forrest Green metalic VW..) Got "Keyed"...bozos like how scratches look against the super fine dark paint!
White...doesn't oxidize as quick so wax job lasts longer, stealth color.I had a white Alfa GTV....no one paid it much mind..till I blew by 'em @ 80 mph...and shifted into 5th (not many 5 speeds out there in 67!)...As the ol sayin goes.."ya pays your money and takes your chance...".. Good luck!
