I was thinking about getting the $199/yr Convenience Plan mainly so I can use BMW Search which BMW states can allow you to "compare gas stations' pricing along" your route.

It would be worth the price for me if little gas station icons would pop up along my route with gas (diesel) prices listed next to them. Somehow I don't think it will be as convenient as I envision.

Can anyone who has used BMW Search or seen it in action explain how "with automatic transfer of your current location and destination, you can compare gas stations' pricing along the way"?

Let's just think about this for a moment. Gas prices usually vary no more than about $.20 per gallon. For this to be useful, you'd have to save $.20 on ***1,000*** gallons of gasoline! Do you really drive 30,000 miles a year where you need to find the cheapest gas? And you aren't likely to save the max $.20 on each gallon. Total waste.

You also have to consider when looking for cheap prices is cheap gas and possibly driving out of your way just to save a few bucks. Also, if you mainly drive around your city, you likely know where to go for gas.

Is this in addition to your BMW Assist Safety Plan? If yes, then overpriced for what you want it to do, but if not and it includes everything like crash notification/stolen-vehicle tracking/remote unlock/concierge/destination download/etc... then that's decent value for money.

Good point. Although I do usually drive ~$20k miles/year. So far I have over $7k in 3 mos. :shifty I may have to purchase my leased vehicle.

I agree. I don't want to drive out of my way to save a few bucks. That's why I was hoping for something like little icons along my route with fuel prices. Even if something like this exists it probably won't display the diesel prices which is what I need. I can't tell you how many times I've filled up my tank only to find there was another station with cheaper gas 0.10 miles down the same road. But when you are running low un an unfamiliar area you do it anyway.. especially if you drive a diesel vehicle.

No I belive I have crash/stolen/remote unlock all free for the 1st 4 yrs. This is just for the convenience features like gas prices, BMW search (bloomberg, etc), & a concierge who can tell you where I can find a decent Mexican restaurant & then send the adress to my iDrive.

Maybe it is overpriced.

Not a bad idea. Alot of the apps go for $0.99. I may buy this today but if it is not built in to my Nav so it appears along the route I probably won't use it much. I'll test out a free app. Thanks for the idea.

Is there anyone on the forum who actually has the conveniece plan? Do you find it usefull?

I thought about getting the convenience plan but then realized I wouldn't use it enough for it to be worth it.

+1 on iPhone apps.
