Hey Everyone,
So I think I discovered the cause of my high idle issue with the Alpina B10 3.5 last night. When I went to park it, it was idling high. I quickly popped the hood and watched the throttle cable intently and when the motor eventually kicked down... it's didn't move at all. So I tried pushing on the throttle lever that the cable attaches to and I was able to recreate (off and on) the high throttle issue.
What seems to be happening is the throttle body itself is 'sticking' slightly throttled until the spring wins over whatever resistance to make it step down. So to me it seems as though it is 'gummed up'. I have rebuilt many E32/E31 throttle bodies but the one on the M30 seems a bit different. Is there any writeup on how to rebuild or at least clean these? I was thinking, at the minimum, of removing the throttle body and spraying the heck out of the coiled spring area with brake clean.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Rob
