3 months ago I baught a dirt cheap 540i and love it.After about 2 weeks after doing a valve body rebuild I had to tap out 9 bolts on the transmission pan because who ever was the last mechanic in there didnt know how to use the proper size torx bit.I was driving it for a week with it leaking a minor amount of fluid before I had acess to a lift to fix the bolts on the pan.I figured id top it back off with fluid because slowly over the weeks time it was getting trans program quicker due to it being empty.So I refilled the fluid and after running it through the gears it sprung a mysterious atf fluid leak on the road test.I was so pissed that it was emptying itself of $150 dollar fluid a let it sit for a few weeks.4 days ago I decided I had had enough of driving my fuel efficient/bimmer backup car(99 dodge neon 3 speed slowest car ever (132hp),defeated by Florida hills lol).Starting the car for the first time I discovered 2 coolant leaks on the rear of the engine.Both were transmission oil cooler lines.After surgically snipping one of the lines just below were it was leaking it didnt have enough area to be clamped.So today I got the car on the stands and started taking apart the transmission cooler so I could make it fit.Sorry for a lil reading but a story is a story ill get to the point.I think were the cooler connects to the tranny is wear it was leaking from,and by leaking I mean a godly piss of a leak more like a mighty river.My questions are.
Is the transmission cooler the only place were coolant exits the transmission,Is the tranny totally sealed? 5hp30 btw

On my car (part number 2 on that post) It has 2 orings how likely is it thats were the leaks coming from?They both looked fine to me still big enough in size to form a seal.Is there any other place on the tranny it could be emptying the fluid from the front at that rate?Main seal?
What website did that guy get that picture from as I need to order those orings?
Will the transmission throw the trans program if it is not operating at a specific set pressure?
Any one know the operating pressure of the tranny?
I read a TSB from bmw I think it was dated for 98 that the 5hp30s needed updated E-prom programming after doing any valve body work because the pressure peramiters are stored for good.Do you think it would be okay if I just did a "shogun rescet?" http://www.bimmernut.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21537
They also go on to say in the tsb that they update a few things in the programming and delete the super sport mode in the tranny amung other things,silly BMW.But from what I remember I was thinking I needed the new program so if a rescet wont fix it ill get the new prom if its resonably priced that is.
I really miss my 540 please help a brother out.
