I have been chasing down a misfire that happens when the car is warm and I accelerate from a stop.

It does not appear to have any vacuum leaks and i have replaced all of the hoses anyway, along with a bunch of other stuff, Fpr, valve cover gaskets, plugs , plug boots and I did find a coil that was cracked, so i replaced that.

The car runs great first thing in the morning, but on the way home from work though it will start with this slight misfire and it starts to idle a little rough.

I have cleaned the ICV and it moves freely.

When i disconnected the maf nothing happened. Im pretty sure the car should run rough and maybe even die with it disconnected. i actually drove it home with no maf and it did great. better than usual.

I have never got a 1215 code though, i occasionally get one of the o2 codes like 1221 or 1212

So I am thinking it may be the MAF

if you never got a maf code, then i suggest the o2 sensors have bit the bullet. Odd's are they are probably original. I know sometime last year my car was running exactly as you described. I replaced the maf (i did have a maf code), and still it was running rough. Once i replaced both o2 sensors with OE Bosch ones, the car was running great again.

Possibly, I did replace those about 10k miles ago. Shortly afterwards the head gasket blew though, and maybe they got contaminated then. I thin ill have a look at them.

I do have a spare 02 sensor as autozone ordered too many and just gave me the other one!

So the car should run when you disconnect the MAF?

when i disconnect my maf now, the car will die. i think this suggests that its working
