Well, I'd make the argument that they're talking about 3 year old cars, ie MY 2000 cars. ....That means the e46, e39 and e38's, which were all designed before Bangel controlled all aspects of the design. I believe his first "total" effort was the e65 7 series that was introduced in 2002, so next year we'll see how the resale value holds up.

i think main reason honda holds up on resale is because of all the illegal immigrants allowed to have liscenses now and they're already down there in price, they cant go any lower. They should try quality and resale price together.

The reasons MB drop on the resale are due to the SUV. Have you seen the price on those car. It hella funny to purchase car that worth new $45,000 and to find out within 2 years it only worth $28,000 the most. Take it from me it hurt like a mother.

I don't think that's appropriate.

yeah, this list is mostly or all pre-Bangle cars...I wonder if it will hold true in a yr or two.... hmmmm..... Its so competitive that all it takes is one really bad car to drag everyone down....which is why I wonder if BMW is stretching too much with the 1 series, 6 series,....blah blah...

I believe theyll hold up just fine. Sure the designs are a little....unorthodox, but Bangle BMW's are still selling pretty well. For the most part, These newer cars, are probably designed (from a technical standpoint) better than previous ones. I'm not really sure where im going with this, but i think you all get the point im trying to make :)

two things...first yr cars tend to have bugs...also people want the lastest & greatest....so it should have a mix reaction in the resale mkt. The real test is after 2nd yr of a Bangle car.

Chris Bangle's been at BMW for a long time. E36, E38, E46... Bangled cars. He's been there since 92 folks.

AirborneDENs Comments are racist and reflects a lack of intelligence.

look as as enthusiast you may hate the new bmw line up that have been bangalized.
but whenever i show a person who would easily fit into the *general public* category, they abosultely love the new designs.
bmw sales are going to sky-rocket
they are continually growing... bmw is building a stronger mor healthy reputation. resale values will only increase, reliability, and appeal go along with that.
just watch out, bmw is on a roll

They're mostly talking about the Mini. No?
Obviously these guys didn't include Porsche or Ferrari in their survey. Try and find a decent 993 with low mileage and you'll see what I mean.

porsche and ferrari are considered supercars.
it wouldnt make much sense for them to include them.
Ferrari maybe, but a new 911 is not that much more expensive than a bmw 7.
Aren G
11-12-2003, 07:32 PM
the 7 is for the masses, the 911 not as much.
its not something you can compare really...
the 7 is not a supercar, the porsche is.

dudes, i just told everyone why excotics dont drop in prices like other cars. they drive those cars like 2-5K miles a year.

I do not like bangle, but....
It does seam like all the different cars are starting to look the same. Audi, Volvo, BMW, Lexus and so on.....
One thing that I can say for Bangle designs, they are different that the others. They stand out in a crowd.
Maybe that is why BMW is changing their look. Seperating from the pack and being different.
That will in turn raise vaule.

Yes I heard this on the local news yesterday. They did not include the e38's. You can get 95's dirt cheap now do to the engine issue. But they still look like a million bucks so we cares about the drop in value. If the home values stop going up here in Cali. then I'll start to worry:eek:

i dont like the idea of resale values.. after spending so much on your car and mods, you might as well keep it till it dies.. well thats what im planning to do.

Yes, that's ideal. But after a certain point, it just begins to cost too much just to keep it.

Yeah.. that really makes me feel great when I paid 17K for my BMW 4 years ago and it's worth 6K now. And I only put 15K miles on it.
Resale value my ass.
hmmmm, Mercedes loses top resale spot
Me thinks this has something to do with their new F1 lineup. They simply just dont last as long as N/A engines
