Hello, i'm new here and i need your help) I had an accident recently and now i need a new hood, my problem is that the new one comes without supports and struts and i don't know how to take off the old one without having to remove supports and struts. Could you please help me? Maybe there's some photo/video tutorial somewhere here? I tried using search, but couldn't find anything.
The car is 1990 E34 520i m20b20 Euro.
Thanks.

Remove the old hood, lay it out next to the new one, and transfer everything over. The struts are the only thing that requires instruction really -- they have a spring clip on each end that I stick a flat head screwdriver into to release while sliding the strut off the shafts.

Removal/reinstallation is a two person job -- not having a second person is asking to scratch the hood or the car. You'll probably have to adjust the new hood to fit. You do this by eye -- if it doesn't look right closed, move it around until it does. Close it real slow until you're sure it's adjusted right -- otherwise you can crash it into the fenders and scratch/dent them.

You just need a flat blade screw driver and perhaps a pair of needle nose pliers to separate and remove the hood strut from the hinged bracket of the hood. Look at the construction. It should be apparent to you.

Your new hood does not come with that part?

I'm pretty sure it has this part, I just don't know how to remove supports from that thing

Look at the inside of the connection it should be apparent to you what to do. I forgot exactly what it look like but it is something very simple. Do not lose the plastic shim.

I replaced the hood on Tuesday, thought that everything was ok, but today i took a good look at it and well, it wasn't that good actually.
How exactly do i align it to fit?
I read on Bentleys manual that you can align it by tightening/loosening
bolts on hood lock bracket, but i can't try it until tomorrow. Will it help? Any other suggestions would be good too

This is how it looks now

Adjust the "lock bar" that's located between the middle and the high beam on the hood ofcourse (that thing that locks down into the radiator support).
You have to screw it in a couple of turns to get it to lock further down. Otherwise it looks like a good allignment.

The lock bar is simply screwed onto the hood, (as you obviously know by now as you probably moved it from your old hood).
When you reassembled it you didn't screw it in exactly as many turns as it was with the old hood. But as said, it's a simple fix! Try with 2 turns first and see how far down it will come, and then just simply turn it 1 turn more or less until you get where you want it to be.

And if you can't allign it exactly, you can adjust the 2 rubber "stops" that is on the front of the radiator support, one on each side. You can turn those down or up simply by turning them by hand, to make the hood lock down tightly without flexing, in that way you can also make it lock further up or down once you found the correct setting for the "lock bar".

Thank you very much for your advice, i adjusted the lock bar and hood is aligned better now, but i couldn't adjust it more cause it wouldn't lock then and it still looks kinda off( Now about those 2 rubber stops, i didn't undestand what exactly are these things and couldn't even find'em, may be i should take a better look, but anyway, i'd appreciate a picture)

You said you had an accident recently. Could that cause the hood to sit so high up? I really can't think of any other explination.

I recently helped putting the hood on an E32 which works exactly the same and the only adjustments possible were left/right and forward/backward.

Or maybe the picture is just fooling me and it needs to go just a tad backwards...

Yeah, it looks like it needs to go back a little bit more. Though the way it pivots when it locks may give a little more drop. I'd say adjust it back a little more, then another turn tighter on the lock height. My $.02

Here's a picture that i edited in paint to show where those rubber stops are.

Still looks like it needs to lock further down, so adjust those things shown in the picture a couple of turns down. If that doesn't do it, then you can try to adjust the hood backwards.

Accident left mostly body damage, nothing that could cause it to sit higher was affected, however moving it backward made it sit better

Damn, how could i not see'em) Thanks for the picture man, helped a lot, adjusted these rubber things, lock bar, and now it sits good, the gap between the hood and right fender is wider than on the left side, but tommorow i will move the hood to the right a bit and at last will be done with it)
