Okay so I bought new wheels and tires for my E30, and I made a really stupid mistake. I bought Borbet Type M's. The seller said they were 4x100...took them to the tire shop today with the 20mm spacers, new tires, and longer lugs to get them mounted up. They're actually 4x110. FML

So my question is can I use the spacers like adapters since they have both the 4x100 and 4x110 bolt patterns drilled in them. OR can I just have the 4x110 wheels redrilled to 4x100?

Thanks in advance for the help...I'm trying to figure this out fast because my car is still at the shop, and I don't know what to tell them...

I would not recommend doing anything to the wheels. The wheel spacer seems to be the best option. To drill a wheel out you are reducing the strength of the wheel.

Don't a lot of wheels come with more than one bolt pattern though?

When that is the case they know they are going to be doing that and make sure the bolt patterns match up and don't throw any of the balance of the wheel off. That is a lot different than going back after the fact and redrilling a wheel.

The best way to understand which size spacer you need, is to simply measure from the top outside edge of your tire to the inner lip of you fender.

This will give you the best idea on how much size you have to work with, and to decide on how much your wheels need spaced.

Once you know that let us know and I will be able to recommend which size will be the best fit for your application.

Here is a diagram that might help as well.
