:shifty Would it do any damage if I want to check for intake/exhaust leaks using this method? Duct tape exhaust while running and hunt for smoke?

Not exactly how that works. Best way is to find a shop that has the machine. For all it's complexity the M60 isn't too bad to diagnose. IF you hear a pretty loud whistling you can start with PCV/intake bellows.

Exhaust leaks are super easy to find. Just look on the exhaust after inburnt black "smoke marks". Or if you're a hardcore mechanic, lift up car and crawl under when car is running and feel with your hand around exhaust where you think it leaks and see if you can feel any exhaust coming onto your hand. Only do this when the exhaust isn't burning hot.
And intake leaks are also pretty easy, start spray the intake when the car is running and check if idle rises where you spray. Don't be afraid to spray everywhere on the intake.
If idle rises then you found a leak. Spray on same location as when idle rised up to locate leak.

I'm aware how to find leaks but at this point I think I have super tiny leak somewhere that's not very noticeable. Paying $80-$100 for a single smoke run at a local shop is ridiculous.
The old guy recommended me this trick so I was just wondering how feasible is it.

I have covered up the exhaust with a rag and had a friend crawl up and down the side of the car trying to pinpoint a leak. But then again, would you let me work on your car? Haha
