Hi All - Posted these q's on another BMW board, but didn't get any responses, so am trying here. Any advice for fixes would be helpful. Thanks!

Hello all -

Brand new to BMW (just moved to Italy); having picked up a `91 520i for 500EUR. Three issues require immediate attention--I've been a Volvo guy for ~15yrs, but these are leaving me guessing:

1) Most signficantly, there is a serious surging in the idle from ~700RPM to ~1500 RPM. Was initially the worst while the A/C was on; but after a long drive (200+KM) today, the surging was so bad as to stall the Engine. Difficult to drive like that...

2) Very annoying...there is a "sucking" sound from the sensor? in the dash above the passenger side temp control. Haven't torn into the dash yet, but that air is always there; not affected by driving speed.

3) No heat (at all!). Previous owner thought this was due to a bad thermostat--replaced thermostat, car runs at normal temp (middle of the gauge), yet still have no heat.

Did a brief search for the answers in the forum, but didn't find them. Limited internet access at current location, so any info will help. In advance, thanks!
