i have a 92 325i 4 door 5spd adn i was wondering if i could get a 95 m3 engine and drop it in there. will the m3 engine fit the 325i tranny or do i need to get a new one!!!!what other things do i need to swap besides the engine. example ecu or chip or wireing harness,etc. i plan on doing this swap soon so any info and help would be appriciated!!!by the way anyone know where i can find a used 95 m3 engine for sale and will the car pass smog!!!:dunno

All versions of the US and Euro S50s will bolt up to the US 325i tranny. They're all practically the same block, and the US S50 and M50 even use the same head, just different cams.

The late 1992 engines have VANOS, so if you have one of them, you don't need a new wiring harness, either. You will need a new ECU, but the US M3 engine will still run on a 325i ECU, just not up to its full potential...

The tranny in your 325 will work with the motor but M3 trannys are much stronger. So if you keep your tranny you might be looking for a new one eventually with an m3 motor.

You can find engines and stuff for the swap on here just make sure your careful with the transaction. Read about e28tom and you will see what I'm talking about.
